Project Description
The Kahala Nui project is comprised of a Senior Living Community and a Catholic Church Parish Building. All located at the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in the Kahala neighborhood of the greater Honolulu, Hawaii metropolitan area. The 637,000 square foot Senior Living Community (SLC) complex is spread throughout six buildings including 383 condominium type living units, a 406 stall underground Parking Structure, a Fitness Center and Common Areas. Of the 383 living units, 270 are Independent Living Units and 113 each are Assisted Care units. The Commons Building includes various specialized activity rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, kitchen, and a central utility plant. The 40,800 square foot Parish Building includes an early learning center, gym, as well as living areas for the Catholic Priests. All SLC buildings are cast-in-place concrete structures with post tensioned elevated floor slabs built on spread footing foundations. The Parish building also has a spread footing foundation but is built using load bearing CMU walls with post tensioned elevated floor slabs.
