This design-assist project involved the extensive development of an environmentally sensitive site surrounded on all four sides by wetlands. This project included exporting substantial amounts of excavated material, temporary and permanent erosion control, access roads, site utilities, and site security. Centered on the site is a 50,372 SF main building housing state of the art radar and supporting facilities. The ancillary building consists of an engine generator building and a guard house.
This facility is also the first of its kind for the Federal Aviation Administration in that it was designed and built to receive a Gold rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) Council. This initiative includes utilizing extensive amounts of recycled materials, energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and environmentally friendly building practices. This certification places the Seattle TRACON Facility among an elite group of only 19 Gold Certified projects in existence to-date.
