Project Description
This project included construction of a seven-level, 369,000 sf Science Museum with contiguous 825-car parking ramp and development of the 16-acre site with associated site amenities, services, drives and plaza connection on St. Paul’s Upper Landing on the Mississippi River.
Primary construction consisted of cast-in-place concrete and steel-framed building structure with masonry veneer over steel stud exterior wall systems. Parking structure is precast concrete. Program elements include exhibit spaces, a large Omni/Imax screen theater, retail, collections storage, classrooms, offices, laboratories and building support spaces. The star attraction of the museum is the new Imax/Omnimax theatre, the first outside of Europe with a retractable dome and capabilities to handle multiple projection formats.
