Jefferson County - Government Center

The Jefferson County Government Center is known as the ‘Taj Mahal' of Colorado. Constructed with a steel tension ring atrium, a dome is the centerpiece of the building with a skylights and a 125'-high rotunda. Not only is the government center beautiful, it is technologically advanced. A 600 Lf tunnel provides a connection between the existing jail and the courts side of the building. In the tunnel, we installed a computer-operated, remote controlled magnetic prisoner transportation system that would carry inmates between the jail and the courtrooms so there was no chance of a prisoner escaping during transportation to court. Recognized by many for its outstanding design and quality, PCL was acknowledged for completing a difficult and financially burdensome project. The relationships developed in this project led to new projects for Jefferson County, such as several schools and construction of a new stadium.
