Current Progress
Currently, the Federal Way Transit Center is progressing well. Next Thursday, we are scheduled to have our final of 20 pours for the elevated decks. This will be a large milestone and will allow us to concentrate on starting the bus platform. The weather has cooperated fairly well and we have not missed a single pour on the whole project. Final work on the Detention Tank is underway. Hollow core roof planks are in place and fully grouted. Our excavation subcontractor is currently in the process of connecting the outfall pipe to the city line. Once the inlet pipe and outfall pipe are connected, all that remains is backfilling and installation of the vault risers. Finishing the Detention Tank is very important so we can start work on the bus platform. Milestones for the next month include finishing the concrete placement for the elevated decks and columns, backfilling the detention tank, and installing the pile caps for the bus platform. Project Description
The Federal Way Transit Center is a 1,200-car, cast-in-place parking garage with post-tension slabs. It includes four elevated decks and a double helix ramp system. Six cast-in-place shear walls provide for seismic requirements. Two elevators and the exterior of the garage are made up of colored precast concrete panels welded to embeds. Site work includes a pedestrian bridge, busdrives, colored concrete walks, landscape and irrigation, and a new signal.
